I had no idea what kind of dragonfly this was & didn't know how lucky I was to find it perched. Sent it to the experts & turns out is one relatively rare to find. New for me. A juvenile with the lighter gold color. A male per several field marks. Part of the King Skimmers & the one that spends more time on the wing & less time perching. Lucky I got a side view needed to confirm the species by seeing the "wolf snout" marking on the side of the thorax. I found a great site with information on this species here: http://dragonfliesnva.com/My%20Documents/KevinPDF/pdf/identify/species/Needham%27sSkimmer-FINAL.pdf
