American Snout Conducting A Taste Test
These butterflies can be seen in large numbers when they migrate thru Texas. This one appeared to be tasting the metal on the fence. They are nectar eaters but also go for minerals so maybe it was looking for salt left behind from sweat. It was nice enough to hold still for a photo.
