Cicada Killer

No this is not a "murder wasp." It is a cicada killer. Normally they seem to be in constant motion but I finally had one stay still for a photo. These beautiful wasps are not aggressive and not a threat unless you are a cicada. The males don't even have a stinger & the females would only sting you in defense if you held one in your hand.
