Plains Cicada
I found this cicada early in the morning on the side of a house. It was newly emerged still right by its shell. It turned out to be a new species of cicada for me. They get the name plains due to their preferred habitat being grasslands. They like willow trees and there was a big one in the front yard. The nymphs live 3 to 5 years underground.
