Plains Cicada Face Shot

I had to lean over on one foot at a crazy angle to get this shot. Worth it. Newly emerged cicada by the empty husk it recently left. The 2 red dots between the eyes are lateral ocellus. There is a center one called a medial ocellus which is the white spot between & below the red dots. These ocelli are simple eyes used to detect light & darkness. Ocelli means little eyes in Latin.
