Indomitable Melipotis Moth
I got one shot of this moth in the grass and sent it off to the bug experts for an id. Turned out to be a new species for me. The Indomitable Melipotis moth. There is not much information on it when I researched. It is found in Southern United States and Northern Mexico. The larvae is a cutworm that feeds on honey mesquite foliage but does not permanently damage the tree.
