30 seconds....from when the chrysalis started to split, until the butterfly was fully out. Wow, so quick. Was not expecting that huge abdomen either. As it got smaller, the wings got bigger so guess it pumped the fluids from one to the other as it twisted back and forth. Butterfly #2, which emerged first today was a girl, and butterfly #3 was a boy. Saturday morning's butterfly was female. 3 successful caterpillar to release of butterfly. And I learned a lot along the way.
