Interesting fact: the black spot between the two red compound eyes contains 3 ocelli which are simple eyes. Simple eyes have a single lens. Clearly seen in this shot. The two red compound eyes consist of thousands of lenses (individual photoreceptor units). The end result is two anatomically separate and functionally different visual pathways. Way cool!
