This is my Monarch butterfly habitat with one caterpillar on the bottom with milkweed leaves to eat, and 4 chrysalises attached to the top ready to emerge at any moment. A 5th chrysalis was not ready on this day. I left it with her and her class for the day. They and several other classes were able to observe the 4 butterflies emerging over a period of a few hours. I returned in the early afternoon and facilitated releasing the butterflies in the front of the school with over 100 students and teachers and the principal. The children in Ms. Barrett's class used their sentences to write about their favorite part of the experience with illustrations and made it into a thank you book that they gave me.
