The Awkward Stage

Mostly gray baby feathers growing every which way, blue adult pin feathers coming in and jutting out stiffly, and still has that baby gape at the back of the bill, meant to entice parents to feed the bottomless pit. Juvenile blue jays are very gawky and awkward.
