What A Handsome Dude
Spotted Towhees nest on the West coast and upper northwest states. They winter in the central plains states down thru most of Texas and into Mexico. They hang out in areas with heavy shrubs and thickets which provide protection so are not easy to spot. The orange sides blend in with dead leaves as you can see here. The white spots on their back help them blend in with the sun-dappled undergrowth.
