My First Great Horned Owl Nest

Isn't she beautiful? Sitting on either eggs or owlets, I didn't know which. This was my first time to see a great horned owl in the wild. They start nesting in early January. Don't build their own nest, they take over an existing nest or use a tree cavity. I found out this nest had belonged to red-shouldered hawks the year before. This is a highly cropped shot and at full zoom.
