Don't Blink!
I don't often see a hummingbird sitting still, and when I do, they take off before I can bring up my camera. This guy stayed just long enough for a shot. Hazy conditions made for strange light. This is a mature male ruby-throated hummingbird. You can tell 2 ways. The tail is longer than the wings and the person with me managed to get a shot with the light hitting just right to show a tiny bit of red on the gorget. For me, getting a shot before he took off counts as a win!
