This was as close as the hawk came to looking in my direction. It did not seem to notice me. We only see this species in DFW during migration. The streakings on the breast & belly are more vertical than horizontal but fairly heavy. That and the fact that the brown eyes still have a hint of gold makes me think this is an immature hawk, half way between juvenile and adult.
