Read More4 Wings & Tail Help With Balance
The baby owl got bored with me quickly and resumed it's walk. The climb was steeper now & the baby started to lose its balance. So it spread both wings and tail to help it stay on the branch. Baby owls leave their nest before they can fly and spend their first days walking around on branches which is called branching. If they slip and fall to the ground, they walk to the nearest tree trunk, climb up and continue to explore. This baby came out of the nest during a storm so I was not sure if it could fly yet. I took this last shot & left so I would not be a reason for it slipping. It was one of the cutest things I've seen.
