Read MoreThe Last Time I Saw Frick
Frick stayed with me for 5 days. He would sit in the entrance from sun up to sun down. On that last morning I took this photo when the morning sun shone on his handsome face as he drowsed in the entrance. It was 9:12 am. Later that morning I looked out the window at 10:30 and noticed the hole was empty. Was wondering what made him go back inside when I saw my next door neighbor's cat jump to the ground from the tree. I went outside to make sure the cat didn't have anything in its mouth and it did not. No feathers on the ground or signs of blood. No evidence of flies or ants around the owl house so don't think the cat hurt the owl. My best guess is that the cat saw Frick and went up the tree after him. Must have scared Frick so badly he stayed inside the rest of the day then left that night and never came back. Pretty sure Frick was inside the rest of that day because that afternoon I saw a squirrel fussing & flicking its tail as it sat on the perch of the owl house. Squirrel looked inside the entrance then backed away quickly and went back down the tree still fussing. Starting the next day, there were no squirrel or bird behaviors to indicate the house was occupied. Its been 10 days of no owl now & I am very sad.
