The only other shot I got before it silently disappeared back into the dense shrubbery and undergrowth of the heavy thicket all around me. I lowered my camera & discovered a 2nd coyote watching me slightly to the left of where the first one had been. That one was smaller and lighter in color. The second our eyes met, that one disappeared before I could even get my camera back up. I think they were a pair with the smaller one being the female but no way to know for sure. The encounter was over in a flash but the memory will last forever.
