The Hawk and The Dove
Read MoreThe Hawk and the Dove 1
I had the opportunity of a lifetime. A young juvenile Cooper's Hawk chased a dove into my window which alerted me. Most likely the dove broke it's neck on the window & did not suffer. Surprised it didn't crack my window it was so loud. The hawk dragged the dove out of the bushes and onto my lawn which allowed me to get a lot of good shots over the next 15 minutes. Mature Cooper's have red/orange eyes and a dark cap on their heads with reddish/brown streaks on their breast so the yellow eyes and streaks on the head with lots of white on the breast means this is a juvenile, one who will be able to survive the winter, having learned it's hunting skills well. I can't tell if it is male or female.
