I was expecting to find a kill but what I saw instead as I got closer, was a very confused hawk wondering where the squirrel went. Took me a moment to notice that the squirrel it was after was on the other side of the tree a few feet up. You can see the shadow of its tail on the trunk to the right but the squirrel was on the backside of the trunk to the left. The young hawk was clueless. You can see the belly band on the hawk which helped me identify it.
