A week after I first saw the baby hawk, I checked the nest again. There was no parent in sight that day and for a long time, no sign of any babies either. It must have been siesta time. At this time, I'd heard some people had seen two babies so I was hopeful. Finally one little head popped up and looked at me briefly, then disappeared back into the bowl of the nest and that was my only sighting that morning. Worth it though, it was stinkin cute.
