Beautiful little barred owlet made a first appearance in the nest opening the night before I saw it the next morning. Two of them were seen that night, I only saw the one that morning. Mama owl was perched across the road keeping an eye on her babies. Daddy owl was perched high in a tree behind the nest tree. The baby owl was watching everything going on in the world outside the nest. The photographers across the road, the blue jay yelling at it nearby, the cars going by, the parent owls hooting back and forth. Found out later that this owlet (the biggest) climbed out and up the tree that afternoon. Once they do this, they are hard to see, hidden by the leaves and within a couple of days, they follow the parents across the road and into the deep woods and that is that for this year's nest. I was so fortunate to have been there to see it yesterday morning.
