Had my camera on a tripod & was taking shots of the Great Egret across the small pond from me when out of the corner of my eye I noticed something large coming at me. The great blue heron came out of nowhere and flew right by me, landing on my side of the pond a little ways to my left. I barely got my camera swung in it's direction in time to get this shot. I didn't notice until I had the photos on my computer that it had string or fishing line trailing from one foot. I can't tell if it's a fish hook or just some string caught on it's foot but it seems to walk and fly ok. Such a large majestic bird, the wing span of a GBH can be up to 6 feet.
