There were two mother mallards out on this day. The first one had 10 ducklings with her, which is the average amount for a mallard. Then I found this group, all asleep in a pile by mom. This mother duck was blind in one eye but still wins the award for mother of the year, she had a total of 19 baby ducklings and during the time I was there she kept them all close to her and at one point drove off a pair of Canada geese who were snapping at the ducklings when they were all in the water. In this shot they were just one big puddle of warm and fuzzy love.
